It’s All About You: The Adina Howard Interview

Twenty years ago I got a gig as an air personality on radio station KSYM-90.1 FM in San Antonio, Texas. The first record that I ever placed on the turntables was from an up-and-coming singer by the name of Adina Howard and the track was called "Freak Like Me." Little did I know at the time was how much that track would impact my life in a major way. I became an instant fan of Adina's and through the years made it a mission to get just about everything with her name on it, including her 1997 unreleased project Welcome to Fantasy Island. It has always been a dream of mine to talk to Adina and to tell her how much I appreciated her music being a part of my life. On this special episode of The Soul Brother Show - The Home of Heavy Soul and Raw Funk, two decades after spinning her music I get that opportunity to express my thoughts and feelings to Adina. In this no-holds-barred conversation, we discuss everything. There is also a playlist consisting of some of the coldest jams from 1995 that will have you taking a trip back down memory lane and reliving some of your fondest memories. It's two and half hours of good music so sit back, relax, and enjoy!

Chris Jasper: Still Superbad!

When I was a kid, I used to look at Isley Brothers' album covers and for some reason, it was something about Chris Jasper that appealed to me. I don't know if it was the Afro, the costume, or the keytar. Whatever the case may be, this cat always stood out to me. I would put on the albums and just get lost in the music. To this very day, when I hear "Highways of My Life" or the Harvest For the World album, I get goosebumps. Chris Jasper was/is the man when it came to the music that shaped the Isley Brothers' sound from the early 70s to the mid 80s. And then there was Isley-Jasper-Isley. Three words: "Caravan of Love." Need I say more? On this awesome podcast of The Soul Brother Show - The Home of Heavy Soul and Raw Funk, this legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and recipient of the 2014 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award talks about his prolific career as a member of both units and his brilliant new album, The One. As always, sit back, relax, and enjoy!
