The Soul Brother Show Honors Prince #2

This was the most difficult broadcast that I have ever had to do. I was going to give KPFT a pre-recorded show but at the last minute I decided to go live on the air. Once again, I am joined in the studio with my wife Georgette as we talk about out our love of Prince. I needed to hear the music and I needed to do what I love to do best and that's entertain, even if it meant playing songs like "Don't Talk to Strangers," "Sometimes It Snows In April," and "Free." This 7-10pm broadcast, which originally aired Friday, April 22, 2016 on KPFT HD3 Houston, was very hard. As I type this, the tears are streaming down my face. Prince was my world and I loved and admired him dearly. I am going to miss him so much. Again, there is no playlist. We just put the records on the turntable and let the music play.

The Soul Brother Show Honors Prince #1

On Thursday, April 21, 2016 the world lost an icon. I never thought in a million years that I would have to do a broadcast remembering the life, legacy, and my love of Prince Rogers Nelson. I have been an admirer of this man ever since my mother brought a copy of For You home in 1978. His music has been the soundtrack of my life ever since and I have so many life events in which Prince played a major role, especially in 2002 when I met my wife at Anthony Frazier's "Like Minded Individuals Party" which honored Prince and his related artists. On this broadcast of The Soul Brother Show, which originally aired Friday, April 22, 2016 from 2-5am on KPFT 90.1 FM Houston, I am joined by my wife Georgette and Anthony as we share some of our fondest memories of the man we called His Royal Badness. There is no playlist; just three people enjoying the music and trying to make the most of a difficult situation. Thank you for listening.

Let me just say that I had an absolute blast playing the music of Charlie Wilson and the Gap Band on a recent broadcast of The Soul Brother Show. I usually play an hours worth of music from one artist during The Soul Brother Power Hour but I got besides myself and the music went on for another half hour. I hope you enjoy what you hear and be sure to catch The Soul Brother Show every Friday from 2-5am CST on KPFT 90.1 FM Houston and again from 7-10pm CST on KPFT HD3 Houston.
