All I can say about this broadcast is WOW! I've been a serious fan of Arrested Development ever since I heard "Tennessee" as a junior in high school. Once I got a hold of their debut album 3 Years, 5 Months, and 2 Days in the Life of... I was hooked. The music was so strong and captivating and it was pivotal to me as a young black man at that particular time. It's an honor and privilege to bring to you a very thought-provoking conversation with Speech as we talk about the history of the band, the music, and spirituality.

Prince: The New Girl Playlist

00:0000:00

princenewgirl.jpg

On this broadcast of The Soul Brother Show, Georgette a-k-a The Soul Sister gave me the brilliant idea to play this particular playlist. When Prince was a guest on a 2014 episode of New Girl starring Zooey Deschanel, the storyline was the characters got to attend a party at his house. To that end, Prince actually sent an actual playlist he might play at a house party. In honor of my musical hero and one of the greatest musicians in history, I wanted to spin these records and let me tell you: This man knew his music! To round out the rest of the broadcast, there is music from Joni Mitchell, Graham Central Station, Santana, and Labelle to name a few.

Lenny!

On this broadcast of The Soul Brother Show, I stepped to the side and let everyone's favorite Soul Sister - Georgette - handle hosting duties as well as pick the playlist. The result: A kick ass tribute to the one and only Lenny Kravitz! Check out some of the baddest tracks from Lenny's catalog featuring the hits such as "Rock and Roll Is Dead," "Are You Gonna Go My Way," "American Woman," and "The Chamber." Georgette also shares some of her fondest Lenny moments and digs deeper in the crates to drop Lenny rarities like "Justify My Love," "Mean Sleep," and "Sister" to name a few. It's three hours of pure badass music and it's all for your listening pleasure!
